Greystones makes an ideal base for exploring the south coast of Cornwall. Within a few miles can be found the world famous Eden Project with its vast biomes built into an abandoned china clay pit, the Lost Gardens of Heligan; a long forgotten Edwardian productive garden and estate now restored to its former glory, and the Georgian port at Charlestown, once a major centre for the export of China Clay and copper.
From Greystones there is access to the South West Coast Path which runs the entire length of the Cornish coast. The busy fishing port and narrow cobbled streets of Mevagissey are a short stroll away. Here there is a local Museum, an Aquarium and the World of Model Railways. Close by is the sandy cove at Portmellon, and further afield the beach at Caerhays offers a wide expanse of sand and is suitable for all ages. Just behind the beach lies Caerhays Castle, an important Camellia garden and secluded parkland. |
